56 Chevy

I love old cars and can't stay away from vintage car shows. Primed, under painted the panel and drawing complete. Stay tuned!

The turquoise blue color on this 56 Chevy is fabulous and I can't wait to get started on this painting.

Pink Cottage

I stumbled upon this adorable pink cottage during a summer visit to Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, NY. This playhouse was built for the daughters of the former estate owner William Robertson Coe. I am taking a more painterly approach to this subject and decided to use a very smooth surfaced panel board.

Added to Huntington Boat Basin

Spent some time painting yesterday. I added to this boat basin painting and it's almost finished. I still need to work on completing the motor on the boat and add some touches of light on the beach grass and sand. My favorite part was painting the water in front of the boat.

Reminder to self to make time for painting.

I spent a nice afternoon painting for a few hours. Time is limited now that school is back in session, but I want to try and make at least 2 small panel paintings a month. In the painting below, I like how the building in the background came out and the play of light in the grass.

Started Huntington Boat Basin Painting

Some weeks ago I visited Huntington, New York and stopped to take pictures of the harbor where boats and kayaks are launched from. The lighting that day was late afternoon sunlight and the greens in the distant grasses were very vivid. This initial painting took two hours to do.

Painting on a Saturday Afternoon

Today is a beautiful fall day in New York. Time is limited now that school has started, but I am going to try and commit to painting 2-3 small panel paintings a month. I like the way this one is turning out.  Still a bit more to work regarding the car and its details.

Laying in the Greens

Today I decided to work with the greens of the painting in the background and foreground. I used a palette of cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, viridian green and raw sienna. I like working with the small 6" x 6"  format because of my short attention span and fast drying time of the acrylics.

Started a New Painting Today

A few weeks ago, I visited a classic car show at The Vanderbilt Estate in Centerport, NY. Today I started a small 6" x 6" acrylic painting from some reference photos that I snapped. The real challenge will be painting the car and its details.
