Gull Watching

acrylic on gessobord, 6" x 6" SOLD

I recently traveled to Chatham, a beautiful Cape Cod town in Barnstable County and watched gulls, seals and other marine life congregate near the incoming fishing boats. This serious looking bird was fun to paint with his vigilant stance, serious expression and white plumage.

Cosmopolitan Kingfisher

acrylic on gessobord, 6" x 6"      SOLD

The reference photo used for this painting was taken by Russ Bridges on the Photos for Artists Facebook site. The site is wonderful, artists are allowed to use reference photos from many talented photographers like Russ.

According to some Wikipedia searching, the kingfisher bird is said to have a cosmopolitan distribution if its range extends across all or most of the world in appropriate habitats.

Enjoying the View

acrylic on gessobord, 6" x 6" SOLD

Summer is always a wonderful time for me and my family. I have young children and we are usually out and about enjoying the beautiful weather on Long Island. During the summer, my kids like to sleep late in the morning, so I find time to paint before they awake.

After the Rain

oil on 3/4" cradled panel, 11" x 14" SOLD
A few of my fellow painters and I went out to Eastern Long Island to paint some marshland. During the entire drive to our destination, the rain came down in torrential downpours. However, when the skies cleared, this is the scene that caught my attention. A study was created and the rest of the painting was finished in the studio. Painting is painted on a cradled one inch thick panelbord and is wired on back and ready for hanging.
